Modern Chevy C10 Door Panel Design & Fabrication (Part 1)

Course Description:

Join the MTI Automotive Designs team for an exclusive two-part class on designing and fabricating a high-end Chevy C10 door panel. The Chevy C10 is one of the most popular and widely restored vehicles among collectors and enthusiasts, making it the perfect subject for this deep dive into advanced door panel fabrication.


This class will be led by Chris Pate, Justin Kush, and Phil Cantu, who will share their expertise in design, CAD modeling, machining, and finishing techniques.


Session 1: Design & CAD Modeling (Part 1)

The first session will focus on design principles and rendering techniques to establish a clear vision for the door panel. This will lead into CAD work using both AutoCAD and Fusion 360, covering essential 2D and 3D design concepts, best practices, and insider tips used daily at MTI. The session will conclude with a Q&A and a discussion on common pitfalls to avoid.

Session 2: Machining & Finishing Techniques

In the second session, we’ll explore advanced machining techniques for fabricating the door panel. We’ll demonstrate how to integrate CNC automation, 3D printing, and laser cutting into the build process. Additionally, we’ll cover proper mounting methods, hardware selection, and fastener usage to ensure a secure and professional installation.


To complete the project, we’ll guide you through leather-wrapping techniques, including wrapping, stretching, and finishing for a flawless, high-end appearance. The session will conclude with final insert installation and a Q&A session.



This hands-on class is designed to equip you with the knowledge and skills needed to create custom, professional-grade door panels with cutting-edge technology and craftsmanship.

This course doesn't just teach you the how-to; it inspires you to innovate. From the initial sketch to the final touch, we guide you through conceptualizing designs and bringing them to life. You'll explore a variety of attachment methods and finishing processes, ensuring your creations are both secure and aesthetically pleasing. Take your game to the next level by using less wood and more OEM-like materials such as steel, aluminum, and composites.
