System Tuning & Design - Late Afternoon

INSTRUCTOR CLASS INTRO

Instructors: Fred Lynch

Workshop Description

The convoluted world of tuning is filled with lots of new technology and resources (tools) available to help get the job done and provide quick solutions to get a system from point A to point B. But even with these “tools”, the knowledge of what is exactly happening in the background and understanding the “basics” in process and good steps to get a system from out

of the box to sounding great is more important than ever.

Simply, ask yourself, “If the available tools don’t give me exactly what I think sounds right, how do I fix it? Or even more important “If the tools available to me aren’t delivering a sound the customer desires and I don’t know how to tune, then how do I fix it?

Join the class as you are walked through auditory targets and the fundamentals of an A>B process in tuning targets with today’s processors. The overall instruction and presented targets will give attendees solid process fundamentals and some seasoned targets with basic, but proven concepts while gaining a growth of knowledge of what’s happening in the background of

today’s systems when being tuned by todays DSP’s. Most importantly this will give attendees a grassroots foundation on how to use their ears to know what they are listening to and for and how to correct some of the most common foundation tuning issues in most any type of system while being able to create that personalized experience their customers are looking for.

With practice, like anything else in our craft, the process and steps discussed are usable on any DSP and the targets covered alone can easily become a simpler preferred method for those unfamiliar or unsure about their tuning process abilities.

This class isn’t all about sound quality as we all listen to music differently, but with the right process and a simply understanding of what to listen for you can deliver an auditory experience that most any customer with any preference of music will fall in love with!

What You Will Learn

  • DSP Fundamentals: Understand the basics of digital signal processors (DSPs) and their impact on sound.
  • Auditory Skills: Train your ears to recognize and correct common tuning issues.
  • A>B Tuning Process: Follow a step-by-step approach to create auditory targets using modern processors.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and fix issues when tools or processes fall short.
  • Tuning Strategies: Use proven techniques to tailor sound and deliver personalized, memorable experiences.
