FOCUSED ON 2D CAD FUNDAMENTALS

SESSION 1

How to Draw in 2D CAD - Part 1

Instructor: Lee Teeples

Course Description:

Learn the pros and cons of the most popular 2D CAD software with our introduction to fundamentals. This course quickly brings attendees up to speed for beginning a design in CAD that can be saved and modified for future needs, such as altering openings in a speaker adapter or updating mounting hole patterns. Learn how to easily export designs to automated machines to reproduce commonly used parts instead of placing special orders or wasting time altering existing ones. Gain firsthand experience in completing a design in a 2D CAD program and building the confidence you need to apply these skills in your own workshop. Learn to scale, size, and create basic shapes with precision, use offsets effectively, and understand trimming and alignment—all skills that are transferable to any 2D CAD software.

What You Will Learn

  • Master the essential CAD skills to efficiently reproduce designs, saving time and resources by avoiding the need for special orders or manual modifications.
  • See first-hand examples with CAD software, giving you the practical knowledge and confidence to tackle design projects in your own workshop.
  • Learn to scale, size, and create basic shapes, use offsets effectively and understand trimming and alignment.

SESSION 2

How to Draw in 2D CAD - Part 2

Instructors: Matt Schaeffer & Gary Bell

Course Description:

Get started with 2D CAD design in our basic training session. This course will guide attendees from the very first step through a series of exercises designed to create basic shapes and manipulate designs in various ways to produce practical results. If you're looking to understand the concept of working in a 2D modeling space to improve your designs for fabricated parts, this training is ideal for you. Learn how to set up a work envelope and create basic shapes, offset and align shapes, modify those shapes by trimming, and create patterns.

What You Will Learn:

  • Foundational Skills: Build a solid foundation in 2D CAD design, enabling you to start transforming ideas into precise digital models.
  • Practical Application: Learn through practical exercises that teach you to create and manipulate basic shapes, preparing you to design fabricated parts with accuracy.
  • Design Efficiency: Discover how to set up work envelopes, use 2D offsets, trim, align, and create patterns, which are essential for efficient and effective design work.

SESSION 3

Laser Programming

Instructor:  Cody Smith / CaMaster

Course Description:

Enhance your ability to design and execute intricate 2D patterns and meshes using a laser cutter and engraver to add unique design elements to your installations. Learn the fundamentals of design in Corel and execution in Lightburn software. Learn how to cut and engrave materials for use in speaker adapters, speaker grilles, logos, pressed grille dies, and trim inserts. Get professional tips and examples of mesh and pattern designs to blend with or enhance the vehicle’s interior design.

What You Will Learn:

  • Gain practical skills in cutting and engraving various materials, crucial for creating custom-designed speaker components and decorative elements.
  • Introduction and practical use of Corel and Lightburn software.
  • Expert Insights: Benefit from top professional tips for each program, offering insider knowledge and techniques to optimize your design and manufacturing process.

SESSION 4
