What is the Clean Wire Challenge (CWC) at MasterTech Expo 2025?
The Clean Wire Challenge is a completely new skills contest for MasterTech Expo 2025. The contest’s purpose is to allow participating technicians and wiring gurus to demonstrate their best in wire management skills and compete for the honor and glory of being the Clean Wire Challenge winner!

Who are the judges and CWC organizers?
Dean Beyett and Fernando Lopez of 5 Star Car Stereo are the organizers and select the initial participants. The winner will be chosen by MasterTech Expo attendees on the last day and be announced at the closing ceremony.

The Clean Wire Challenge is sponsored by Audison/Hertz, Firstech, AAMP Global, ORCA Design & Manufacturing, and HKI.

How many competitors are there in the CWC?
There are eight competitors in total. Six from the USA and two from Canada. There are also two alternates selected in the event one of the initial eight competitors fails to meet the participation criteria.

When does the CWC take place?
The Clean Wire Challenge at MasterTech Expo will take place during Friday March 21st and Saturday March 22nd, 2025 during the exhibit hours of the event, 12:30PM - 4:30PM each day.

How do you submit a request to be a CWC competitor?
Each competitor will be selected by Dean and Fernando. To submit a request to compete, please email a link to your work at DandFchristmas@yahoo.com with the subject line “CWC.” This emailed link should provide photos and other details of the wiring work the prospective participant has done. This could be a social media page, a web gallery, a cloud storage drive of images and documents or a video link. In that submission email, please include your name, shop/business name (if applicable), best contact phone number and ensure the email you send from is the one you want as your contact email.

When will the chosen competitors for the CWC be announced?
The roster of selected competitors for the Clean Wire Challenge will be chosen Monday January 9th on Dean and Fernando’s live show streaming across all 5 Star Car Stereo social networks. All chosen competitors will be announced in a subsequent press release on the Clean Wire Challenge at MasterTech Expo 2025 once they are locked in and verified with flight, hotel and Expo registration.

​If you are chosen as a competitor from the USA

• You will receive an email confirmation of being chosen.
• You have until January 13, 2025 to send flight and/or hotel reservation confirmation for the Expo so we know you’re booked.
• Upon confirmation we will send you a coupon code to register for the Expo.
• Please also provide your shirt size.

If you are chosen as a competitor from Canada

• You will be put in contact with the team at Automobility Distribution in Canada.
• Automobility Distribution will arrange your flight and hotel booking.
• Upon confirmation we will send you a coupon code to register for the Expo.
• Please also provide your shirt size.

Note: IF any winner has already registered and paid for MasterTech Expo, Mobile Solutions will provide a credit in the same amount paid to use on select items on their web store, or while at the Expo.

What are the specifics of the challenge?
Four competitors will compete head to head each day, total of two competition days. Each competitor is allowed 3.5 hours to demonstrate their clean wiring and creative skills. The pallet will be:

• A 16 x 32” ABS plastic panel for the basis of wiring and equipment mounting.
• Audio electronics that you’ll wire and connect are provided (actual items to be revealed on the day).
• You’ll be provided all of the necessary wire, connectors, heatshrink, ferrules, zip ties, distribution blocks, signal cables and basic tools (to use) such as cordless drill and bits, hand tools, wire cutters/crimpers/strippers, soldering iron, etc.
• You can bring a bag of your own tricks – such as passive crossover networks, wire mounts, amplifier risers or whatever else you think will help your entry stand out.
• You can certainly bring any of your own preferred tools if you like.

What do winners of the Clean Wire Challenge receive?
The first place winner receives a one-of-a-kind, hand-built trophy from Dean and Fernando, as well as the esteemed title as the very first Clean Wire Challenge champion. There can be only one first!

All competitors receive a generous swag bag of cool items provided by sponsors and select MasterTech Expo exhibitors.

Each competitor gets to keep their project – equipment and all. It’s the competitor’s responsibility to get their project back home.
